As of December 1, the Jidong Oilfield High 66X1 fault block carbon drive carbon storage test project has injected 30,500 tons of gas this year, completing the annual gas injection task of 30,000 tons ahead of schedule, and increasing oil by 2,106 tons.


The High 66X1 fault block carbon drive carbon storage test project in Jidong Oilfield is the first carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) project in deep high winter low permeability reservoir of petrochina. The high 66X1 fault block belongs to the complex fault block lithologic structural reservoir, which has the characteristics of good reservoir connectivity, large formation dip, high formation pressure, large ground mixing pressure difference, and is conducive to miscible flooding. It is an effective way to promote the green and low-carbon development of the Group and Jidong Oilfield to carry out the carbon drive and carbon storage pilot test, and it is also a new way and method to further improve the development effect and greatly increase the recovery rate of complex fault block reservoirs.


In order to ensure the smooth implementation of the project, the technical staff broke the mindset, and started with the evaluation of the reservoir structural burial, dissolution burial, and new lower limit geological reserves burial capacity, to clarify the carbon drive carbon burial potential, and to ensure the gas injection and good gas injection. At the same time, in-depth study of carbon drive oil carbon storage efficient injection and production technology and whole process corrosion prevention technology in deep high winter low permeability reservoir, focusing on monitoring the location and speed of carbon dioxide migration, formation pressure and production fluid composition changes, effectively ensure the smooth completion of the annual gas injection task. Since the beginning of this year, a total of 93 Wells of dynamic monitoring and 117 Wells of carbon storage monitoring have been implemented.


The project team actively carried out research on the overload operation of the gathering and decarbonization system, combined with the characteristics of the air source, the scale of injection and production, and the status quo of construction, deepened the research on the matching of the source and sink, vigorously explored the supporting technology, and established the carbon recycling technical route of "on the separation of earth gas and liquid, supercritical pressurization, and mixed gas injection". It has formed a CCUS operation mode with characteristics of Jidong Oilfield, which is characterized by "supercritical injection" and "complementary liquefaction-recovery, combined carbon displacement and carbon dioxide throughput, combined carbon displacement and carbon storage with clean energy utilization", realizing 60,000 cubic meters of gas injection per day, effectively simplifying the process, reducing the operating cost, and having good promotion potential and demonstration effect.
