The Daqing Oil Field Captures More Than One Million Tons of Carbon Dioxide

Up to now, Daqing oilfield has captured more than 1 million tons of carbon dioxide, and nearly 170,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced in 2023 alone, which is equivalent to the carbon sink reserves of more than 1.3 million tree species commonly used in Daqing area for 20 years.

As a primary oil and gas processing enterprise, Daqing Oil Field Natural Gas Branch Company innovates, breaks the routine, pursues "green" and constantly accelerates the development pace of "carbon" resource business. In response to the problem of high carbon content in some gas Wells of Daqing oilfield, the Natural Gas Branch has successively constructed and put into operation the first and second phase of the Xushen 9 natural gas purification unit and the red pressure natural gas purification unit, and constantly strengthened the research on decarbonization technology, optimized the operation of the device, and controlled the fine process. In 2023, the oil field completed the intelligent upgrading and transformation of Xushen 9 purification plant, and the operation accuracy and operation quality and efficiency of the device were further improved. Since the beginning of this year, Daqing Oilfield's first set of purification equipment to remove carbon dioxide from natural gas with alcohol amine method has captured more than 40,000 tons of carbon dioxide, mainly for oil field flooding.

In recent years, Daqing Oilfield has focused on the national "dual carbon" goal, adhered to green development, and coordinated the deployment of carbon dioxide industrial system development plans. The Natural Gas Branch further plays the advantages of equipment, technology, experience and talents, gradually integrates into the field of carbon dioxide liquefaction, independently resumes the production of Fang48 liquefaction station, and successfully builds and puts into operation the ethylene carbon dioxide liquefaction plant. The liquefied carbon dioxide is used in oil field injection and displacement, unconventional oil and gas exploration and development, etc., opening up a new green path to transform "carbon" into treasure. At the same time, combined with the actual increase in gas volume in Xushen block, we will continue to expand the scale of production capacity, accelerate the construction of the third phase of the Xushen 9 natural gas purification Plant, and fully promote the strong chain expansion of CCUS.

CCUS, short for carbon dioxide Capture, Utilization and storage, is the collection and purification of carbon dioxide emitted in the production process, and then put into the new production process for recycling or storage. CCUS is the only technology option to realize the low-carbon use of fossil energy, and is an important cornerstone to achieve net zero emissions of fossil energy.
