Dagang Oilfield follows the trend, relies on its own geothermal resource advantages, strives to cultivate new quality productivity, and explores a new path in adversity. As of the beginning of May, the company has established a new pattern of geothermal business development with Tianjin as the core and radiating five provinces and cities.


Internal and external force to extend the chain to open up new markets


Compared with traditional energy sources such as coal and petroleum, geothermal energy is a new energy, which does not emit pollutants and greenhouse gases in the development and utilization process, and has the characteristics of green, low-carbon, recyclable, stable and reliable. Dagang Oilfield takes it as an important focus to cultivate new quality productivity, and makes efforts in both internal and external markets.


Dagang Oilfield has unique geothermal resources. In order to solve the heating problem of residents, as early as 1980, the Beidagang area began to develop and utilize geothermal resources, and independently drilled 23 geothermal Wells. In November 2019, with the official operation of the first recharge well DG-30B, the oilfield entered a new stage of integrated sustainable utilization of geothermal energy. In 2021, the oilfield took the lead in the implementation of the shallow geothermal energy heating and cooling project in the Dagang Oilfield Exploration and Development Research Institute, and explored a new path of integrated heating and cooling supply in the office area.


With years of accumulated experience, Dagang Oilfield is driven by the shallow geothermal project of the Research Institute of Exploration and Development, and in 2023, four shallow geothermal heating and cooling projects such as Bohai Drilling No. 3 Drilling Company will be completed and put into use. At this point, the largest shallow geothermal group of petrochina has been built in the oil area, with a heating and cooling area of 690,000 square meters.


The eyes should be turned inward as well as outward. Dagang Oilfield has been actively expanding the civil market by utilizing shallow geothermal energy resources and developing middle-deep geothermal energy resources. In 2023, with the oil region as the starting point, radiating North China, East China, Northeast China and other regions, eight cooperation framework agreements were signed.


As of the beginning of May, Dagang Oilfield has completed 10 geothermal projects in the oil area, achieving a geothermal clean heating area of 1.05 million square meters, which can reduce carbon emissions by 63,000 tons per year compared with traditional heating methods. Thirteen projects have been signed outside the oil zone, and the geothermal market area has reached more than 30 million square meters.


Continuous innovation to build a complete technical system


Dagang Oilfield Company takes scientific and technological innovation as the engine for the development and growth of geothermal business, and strives to cultivate the "mace" to break through the trend.


In order to support the large-scale development of geothermal business, Dagang Oilfield concentrated on the fine evaluation and target optimization of domestic thermal resources in the oil area, explored the comprehensive utilization technology of abandoned oil Wells in the Dagang exploration area, broke through the technical bottleneck in the exploration and development process of geothermal Wells, and completed the comprehensive utilization resource database construction of abandoned oil Wells in the Dagang exploration area. The technical system of fine description of heat storage, dynamic reserve evaluation, hydrothermal sandstone heat storage recharge and shallow "geothermal +" combined cooling and heat supply has been formed.


In 2023, the first abandoned well transformation geothermal well demonstration project in Dagang Oil area - Tianjin Technical College of Engineering medium and deep geothermal heating project construction was fully started. Relying on the resource database of abandoned oil Wells in Dagang exploration area, after several rounds of screening, the technicians finally selected 5-58 Wells in the long stop well as recharge Wells for transformation. This operation is the first attempt to transform abandoned and shut down oil and gas Wells into geothermal energy utilization, saving 18% of the investment cost compared to drilling new geothermal Wells.


On December 18, 2023, the geothermal exploration well of the middle and deep geothermal heating project in Nanpi County, which was constructed by Dagang Oilfield, was officially drilled. The project adopts the advanced technology sequence of "heat extraction without water consumption, equal amount of same layer recharge", including the core technology of geothermal resources fine evaluation, high-quality and efficient drilling and production irrigation supporting technology, and "geothermal +" multi-energy coupling intelligent operation, to achieve 100% geothermal tailwater recharge in the same layer.


Up to now, Dagang Oilfield has the technical capability of the whole geothermal industry chain covering geothermal exploration and resource evaluation, planning and design, technology research and development, engineering construction, operation and maintenance management, and has cultivated a strong interdisciplinary scientific research team, and geothermal development and utilization is on the track of standardization, institutionalization and large-scale efficient operation.


The management upgrades the manual + digital intelligence dual escort


Whether it can gain a firm foothold in the market, the quality of geothermal service is crucial. While expanding the geothermal market, Dagang Oilfield continues to promote the upgrading of management and protection to achieve the dual escort of "manual + numerical intelligence".


In order to improve the quality of heating (cooling) operation and maintenance, Dagang Oilfield Geothermal Development Company has set up a professional team of geothermal development, utilization and operation and maintenance management. Ji Changbin, an employee of the company's operation and maintenance post, said that every heating (cooling) season, they will pay timely attention to outdoor temperature changes, scientifically adjust the temperature of the water outlet, inspect key parts such as equipment and pressure gauges 10 times a day, and increase the frequency of inspection in bad weather.


In order to achieve efficient management, Dagang Oilfield Geothermal Development Company actively explores a new model of geothermal project intelligent operation management. In November 2023, the innovative geothermal dispatch management platform entered the trial operation stage. The platform includes five functions: equipment monitoring, process monitoring, data management, alarm management and report management, covering four geothermal clean heating projects that will be put into operation in 2023.


In the case of unattended geothermal field stations, the system can carry out unified management of production operation scheduling, achieve local regulation, automatic control, comprehensive coverage of data information and rapid fault alarm positioning, promote geothermal operation management into the digital standardization track, reduce labor and system operation and maintenance costs.


After the geothermal dispatching management platform was launched, the first heating season trial operation effect was good, and it has been promoted and applied to other geothermal projects. Operation and maintenance personnel are cooperating with the maintenance of the heat pump unit, doing a full range of debugging of the new shallow geothermal energy station system, and ensuring that new work is built in the summer cooling.


In the transformation and upgrading of the new journey of high-quality development, Dagang oil people broke through the difficulties, called the "oil geothermal" brand, and wrote a new chapter of energy security.
