Coalbed gas, also known as coal mine gas, is a kind of unconventional natural gas resources. Developing CBM is of great significance for promoting coal mine safety, expanding natural gas supply and reducing environmental pollution.

Relying on the abundant coalbed gas resources in Qinshui Basin, Huabei Oilfield has been self-reliant and self-reliant based on high-level science and technology for many years. It has built the first pilot test base for coalbed gas exploitation in the field of CNPC and created a high-rank coalbed gas drainage development mode, which has greatly increased the daily production per well of newly built horizontal Wells, and the proportion of high-yield Wells has reached more than 48%. The capacity reached 95% or more.

Since the beginning of 2023, the North China Oilfield has continued to increase its CBM exploration efforts. Since the beginning of 2023, it has focused on regional exploration and the evaluation of unutilized reserves to consolidate the foundation for sustainable development. The new proven reserves of Qinnan Block have been added, and good signs have been seen in the trial production of low-rank coal bed methane in Erlian, and the reserves have been reviewed and filed in Shanxi and Inner Mongolia.

Huabia Oilfield focuses on efficient CBM production construction projects, continuously emancipates the mind, promotes key technology innovation, deepens the theoretical understanding of CBM "dredging", adheres to the integration of engineering geology, optimizes key technologies such as well location design, drilling and fracturing, strengthens fine control of single Wells, and promotes self-operation cooperation in one body. At present, the Fanzhuang and Zhengzhuang production and construction projects have been completed, and the Mabi cooperation project has accelerated, and the overall production of coalbed methane has maintained a rapid rise, with a daily gas output of 6.8 million cubic meters.

On August 11, 2023, the second pipeline from Qinshui coalbed methane field in Shanxi Province to the national backbone pipeline network was successfully connected, which can increase the export capacity of the pipeline by 1.5 billion cubic meters per year, forming a new pattern of "double channel" export of coalbed methane and further unblocking the upper and lower production routes of coalbed methane. At this point, the export capacity of Jinnan CBM pipeline in North China Oilfield has reached 3.5 billion cubic meters per year, adding a new guarantee for winter supply in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Henan, Shandong, Jiangsu and other regions.

At the same time, the North China Oilfield has further promoted green and low-carbon development, vigorously developed new energy projects such as photovoltaic power generation, and built the Zheng 120 photovoltaic pilot and Fan 70ping3 comprehensive demonstration well site, achieving 350 kW power generation capacity, annual power generation of 450,000 KWH, and saving 138 tons of standard coal. It is expected that by the end of the "14th Five-Year Plan", Qinshui coalbed methane field can complete the installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation of 300 MW, achieving 50% energy replacement.
